“Nothing last forever, but some things will last forever in your mind.”

— Lulu

On Saturday, 27 September 2025, we held our second House of Collectors with Lulu and Bruce, whose home is nothing short of a living art museum. But they don’t collect art just for its beauty, every work they own carries a story and a personal meaning.

Take MA by Jane Lee, for example. Lulu and Bruce vividly remember the first time they encountered it at OH! Kampong Gelam in 2023. Drawn to the way it reimagines the fractures of a weathered wall, they fell in love with how it revealed hidden beauty and stories beneath the surface. They later acquired and reinstalled the work at home, honouring its original presentation so they could relive that first encounter again and again.

For them, art was a way to learn and see life from a new perspective — an experience they had firsthand at OH! Kampong Gelam as well. During the artwalk, they discovered the historical and cultural significance of gelam trees. Originally planning to remove the ones in their residence, they instead chose to preserve and embrace them as a homage to its heritage.

Their love for the arts resonated deeply with the guests, many of whom had come for the same reason. House of Collectors is built on this shared passion, bringing art lovers together to support our arts ecosystem. More than viewing art in homes, the programme invites direct, intimate encounters between artists, collectors, patrons, volunteers, audiences, and the art itself.

Thank you, Lulu and Bruce, for letting us experience the care, passion, and stories behind your collection. Because of you, we were able to cultivate a space where many meaningful conversations and connections around art could thrive.
