As They Grow Older and Wiser (2016)
The photographs audiences encountered in this house are not of natural landscapes, but of nurseries. A pole sticks out above the tallest plants. The trees in another are potted, as opposed to planted. These images were taken in Bangkok, Thailand, but also reflect the reality of our contemporary relationship with nature in Singapore, where everything is planned and pruned. We are used to seeing plants manicured and perfected, fitting in perfectly in our tidy, urban environments – a garden city, not a tropical jungle.
